During the fall semester of my junior year I was able to enhance NURS 315, Nutrition, and NURS 320, Pharmacology, together. Our instructors allowed us to have the option to combine both subject matters in order to make one final PowerPoint presentation to present to our classmates at the end of the semester. Both of these subjects go together very well because there are many foods that can affect certain medications that we learned about during the semester. That was our focus when making this PowerPoint was to highlight the importance of understanding these important interactions. These two nursing courses were challenging and I learned so much in each of them. It was extremely interesting to be able to combine this honors enhancement for these two topics because they go hand in hand frequently.
As we learned about Pharmacology with Dr. Minor we learned about several different important drugs that are used in nursing. With Professor Swanson we were able to bring in how nutrition and certain foods can affect medications. This project was very helpful and allowed my classmates and I to connect the dots so that we could better understand these interactions.
