SPAN 211

For my Spanish 211 class I was able to take this online over winter break my freshman year. This was the first time that I had taken a winter course and my first time taking an online course. I had taken Spanish in high school, but had never really felt confident in my abilities to use it in the real world. During this class I feel I gained a lot of different things. Not only was I able to greatly improve my Spanish but I was also challenged with the task of online learning for the first time and also with completing a group project online. This was one of the most challenging parts of this course for me. Group projects already seem hard enough when you can meet face-to-face with your partner. I had no idea how I was going to effectively communicate with my partner when I could never meet with him. However this was a great opportunity for me to learn how to better use my online resources and I was able to work with my partner to complete the project together. Another thing I found interesting was when we had oral tests online. Having to learn the material and how to record myself speaking Spanish online was difficult. I am so glad that I was able to take this course over the winter session so that I could put all of my focus on just Spanish. Taking this course really helped me with my Spanish and with learning how to use my online resources better than ever before. Being pushed out of my comfort zone was scary and difficult, but so worth it in the end because now I feel more confident than ever before with using my online resources.

Below is the link to the group project that I was able to complete with my partner online about the country Chile. Being able to conduct research and create a PowerPoint with someone all online was new to me. I felt so accomplished when we completed this assignment and received a good grade on it too!
