Giving back to others is one of the most self fulfilling things that we can do. To give your service is very kind and something the Cormier Honors College, along with many other organizations, encourages at Longwood. I have been able to volunteer through the honors college during our retreat the first week of freshman year. I was able to help organize the Piedmont Retirement Services company with a couple fellow honors students. I was able to volunteer at an alpaca farm with Club Tennis where we helped the owners to clean the barn and move debris from the yard. Alpha Sigma Alpha also has four philanthropies that they are involved with. My favorite this year being the Girls on the Run 5k event. We were able to go out and cheer on the young girls as they ran the 5k at the end of the semester to encourage them that they are able to achieve anything they set their minds to.
