Human Growth and Development

Human Growth and Development was another honors class that I was able to take during my first semester at Longwood. It was amazing to get to learn about how children develop differently in this class. I learned about myself as well and how to study best for myself. Our professor followed along with her PowerPoints slide by slide. I had to learn to use my extra resources such as the online textbook to help me learn the material. We also worked on a semester long final project. We had to use what we learned throughout the year and put it into real life practice. I interviewed three different people whose ages fell into the three categories of early childhood, middle childhood, and adolescence. In these interviews I asked each participant a series of questions to discover how their physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional aspects varied from person to person. I enjoyed this class and the professor was constantly giving us activities to remind us how the material can relate to our majors and futures. With my major being nursing I can apply what I have learned to my future dealing with children and to help me understand how they develop differently.
