MARK-380: Principles of Marketing

In this class, we received an introduction to marketing that sought to provide a broad overview of the activities that constitute the marketing process. We also focused on the influence that economic, social, ethical, technological, and legal forces can have on marketing activities.

Throughout the semester, we worked on a project that focused on how to market a chosen product by incorporating concepts that we had learned in class. My group decided to focus on Nintendo’s newest gaming system, the Switch, which has quickly become popular among our younger generation. For the first portion, we wrote up a report on Nintendo as a company and where it stands in the video gaming market as a whole. This included a S.W.O.T. Analysis of where the company stands which is the main part that I worked on (see ‘Marketing Nintendo Final Presentation). From there, we came up with a marketing plan that focused on strategies in the categories of Product, Price, Promotion, and Place. I worked on the Promotion and Place sections and my work can be seen in the attached document below. I have also attached a copy of my group’s final presentation where we shared all of our findings with the class.
