In this course, we studied ethical decision making by applying it to the field of business. We studied several different philosophical ethical theories such as deontology and utilitarianism while observing how they could be utilized in various business scenarios. For the honors section of this class, we also delved further into the concept of sustainability and issues that arise in business because of it such as unsustainable supply chains and greenwashing in marketing.
Our final assignment for this class that we worked on all semester was to write a paper concerning some aspect of sustainability. For mine, I decided to look into topics within my concentration of marketing and conducted research on why companies should be marketing their sustainable efforts despite the potential threat of greenwashing from other companies.
