The Cormier Honors College teaches the importance of service from the very beginning in the freshman honors retreat. We attended a day of service at a horse pasture. I was at first a bit nervous to be around an animal so much larger than myself. However, once I started cleaning their cages and giving them fresh water I realized they were very peaceful and gentle and this work was something necessary that they could not do themselves. I was appreciative of this opportunity because it reminded me the importance of giving to others who cannot always provide for themselves. I plan on attending more service trips with the honors program.
