Statistical Decision Making [MATH 171]

Statistical Decision Making held opportunities to incorporate math skills into real world problems.  Although the second half of the semester was taught online through slide shows, I was able to continue demonstrating my knowledge through homework, exams, and a project.  In the final project, I used data from Longwood statistic students in an attempt to discover if there is a difference in BMI between genders.  This project required me to use everything I learned in the course.  I am able to look back on my mistakes from my projects and exams with a fresh mind while understanding what must be fixed.  At this point, I feel confident enough to conduct a research experiment or collect data in the correct manner.  These connections provide evidence that statistics is important for my nursing major as there are many research papers are in my future.
