My current professional development at Longwood mostly consists of my senior thesis. I would have had more opportunities for professional development however COVID-19 disrupted these. The senior thesis had me create my own research from the ground up and run it all the way through with minimal help from others and then culminated in my presentation on research day and my thesis defense. I was able to successfully defend my thesis during finals week. For this thesis, I will also be attending conferences next semester (as there were none we could have attended during this past one) with the main one being at Campbell University in April 2023. Next semester I will also be able to take part in the previous opportunities working in Dr. Franssen’s lab. I will also be attending a conference next semester for outdoor leadership with the rock climbing club and outdoors club. The only other professional development would be working at the Longwood Rock Wall however this does not really apply to my future plans and mostly just provides experience with customer service and leadership.
