Computer Science 208 – Grammars, Languages, and Automata

CMSC 208 was a major requirement for my Bachelor’s in Computer Science. In this class, we learned about many individuals who helped shaped computer science and the theories discovered. Throughout the semester we explored induction proofs, trees, and automata,.

Shown below is a pdf that was coded in LaTeX for a homework assignment and the source code that created the document. When a LaTeX file is compiled it can be output as a pdf. LaTeX is a programming language that was created in 1985 and is great to use when creating mathematical equations. LaTeX can be used for many things, as seen below I inserted a diagram showing how a Deterministic Finite Automata could be used to solve a problem. LaTeX can be used to draw many types of diagrams using the different packages that language offers.

Overall I really enjoyed this class and took a lot away from it. Not only and I well educated on the many theories that surround computer science I have also learned a new programming language that will stick with me in the many years to come.
