KINS 380 – Doping in Sport and Society

KINS 380 is the class that I took to satisfy the Behavioral & Social Perspective. This class was taught by Dr. Eric Moore and Dr. Jo Morrison. This ended up being one of my favorite classes in the Spring of 2021. This class examined the science and the ethics of using physical and cognitive enhancement in different settings. Some of the areas we examined were: sports, academics, and the military.

For our final project we had to pick one of these areas of enhancement and determine if we were for the enhancement or against it. The paper attached below is my groups examination of drug use in academics. We were for this enhancement as it is stated in the paper the drug would have no negative effects and would be easily available to students. One of our main points was since the world is growing at such a rapid pace why should we not use an enhancement to enable us to function at our highest possible level cognitively. It could unlock big advancements in the technology and medical fields along with many others.

I enjoyed this class and learned a lot about the different lenses that you can look through when examining the ethics of an action. Going into this class I was not very open when it came to using any type of enhancement and this class has definitely helped me see both sides to doing so.
