Intro to Network and Systems Programming

My experience with Intro to Network and Systems Programming was an interesting one. To my knowledge, this class had been reworked prior to my enrolling in it, due to some underlying issues with the class at the time. At first, the class was going quite well. Every period, we’d learn some new things about programming, we’d practice them, and every so often we would have a larger project to work on. This all fell apart when Coronavirus struck Longwood, leaving in-person classes canceled. While my professor absolutely did his best, new flaws in the class were brought to life, unique to the situation presented by Coronavirus. There were issues with the size of the various projects given, and in addition, the time between projects was also very shaky. It felt like either too much time was given between projects, or not enough time was given. These issues were not due to the class itself, or the professor himself, but were brought upon by situations that no one in our positions could have predicted. Sometimes, problems come up that we all just have to deal with. We cannot solve every single problem, or prepare for every single possible situation. We have to work with the cards we are dealt with, and use them in the best way possible, and that is what we did for this class. We did this through extensions on projects, zoom office hours, and audio lectures. We made the best of a bad situation, and while it wasn’t perfect, we did our best to work with it.
