Art 213

I have never been the “artsy” type. Growing up, I enjoyed art classes but never really anticipated enjoying a type of art enough to imagine doing it for the rest of my life. Ceramics changed that for me. Throwing on the wheel was extremely challenging for me, and I never quite got the hang of it. However, when we moved on to hand-building with clay, I was hooked. Surprisingly enough, especially to me, I even took Ceramics 2 the next semester. It was difficult for me, and I definitely got frustrated a few times, but I found a hobby that I will continue for as long as I can. I obtained an outlet to pour my nervous energy into, and gained new perspectives through new mentors and peers in my ceramics class. Ceramics gave me a new view of myself, I realized that I am capable of doing whatever I set my mind to as long as I work hard and continue trying, even after making multiple mistakes in a row. I cannot wait to continue spending more time in the ceramics studio! Attached below is some of my work from both semesters of ceramics.
