Press Release

The Press Release assignment was a writing project that paralleled and utilized the same rhetorical situation developed by our group for the Brochure assignment. Similar to this project, we operated as a collective group in addressing the Press Release assignment. As we constructed this document, our group had to once again utilize independent websites to collect royalty-free images and icons that could be correctly implemented within our project. As our intended audience was a news organization, our group had to adopt a specifically tailored form of writing in order to properly address the requirements of this project as well as our designated audience. Specifically, our group had to utilize extremely clear, concise, and correct language in constructing this press release document. Additionally, we also had to learn how to present information from an unbiased, fact-based perspective in order to increase the overall level of impact and success with our intended, hypothetical audience.

Paralleling the course outcomes addressed in the Brochure assignment, I was once again able to gain exposure to the very valuable Course Outcome 6 which involves participating in a group project, learning how to divide the workload fairly, and maintaining open as well as dependable communication channels with my fellow peers. As with the other documents created for this course, our group also had to adhere to plain English principles referenced in Course Outcome 2 as well as correctly follow the specific content and formatting requirements of this project and genre. As referenced previously, our group also encountered Course Outcome 3 when we were required to research and develop the header image for our press release.
