Nutrition: Health and Disease and Principles of Pharmacology
These two classes were requirements for the nursing program. In Nutrition, we learned about how nutrition applies to nursing and the effect of diet on different disease processes. It was interesting to see how much our diets can affect our well-being. In Pharmacology, we learned about pretty much any medication you could think of and what it is used for. I was excited for these classes because they got further into the specifics of nursing, going beyond more generalized topics.
The following is my enhancement presentation for these two classes. We investigated several drug and food interactions, explaining what the interaction was, how to recognize the interaction, providing a hypothetical patient experience, and resources that could be used to educate patients on how to avoid these interactions. This could include handouts and patient education about the specified drug.
