MUSC 224-50

Honors Music Appreciation, Professor Shaffer, Fall 2017

I enjoyed this course because I have been playing musical instruments for the past 10 years, so music has been a big part of my life. Because of my background in music, I already knew much of the information that was covered at the beginning of the course. However, after the first few weeks, we started learning about the musical eras and composers of each era, which I was familiar with, but did not know a lot about, so it was interesting to learn this material. My professor tried to make this class fun, and was very understanding of this course being a general education goal. As a part of this course, we were required to attend concerts and write reviews on each. This was the first time I had attended a musical concert at Longwood, and I got to see a few very good shows. One of the concerts I attended was the US Army Blues Jazz Concert, and I have attached the concert review I wrote for this performance.
