Honors City as Text, Professor Znosko, Fall 2017

This course altogether was a very unique experience. We spent time in the classroom learning about wandering and all of the different neighborhoods in Atlanta, and then got to apply this knowledge to real life. We had a couple assignments requiring us to wander around Farmville. This allowed me to see parts of Farmville I had never seen before and to think about Farmville outside of just being a two college town. Over fall break, we had the opportunity to travel to Atlanta, Georgia as a group and see the neighborhoods we had spent time learning about. I had been to Atlanta previously, but with my newfound knowledge of the area and how to wander, I saw the city in a whole new way. I got to see the city more so how a local would see it rather than how a tourist would see it. As a group, we attended the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, and got to participate in a food insecurity workshop to learn about this issue within the city. I have attached my turning point essay as my artifact, which reflects on my overall experience in Atlanta.
