Longwood Seminar, Dr. Ulmer, Fall 2016
Longwood Seminar is a course required for all new students to take in their first semester. This class offers sections exclusively for honors students, as well as sections exclusively for nursing students. As a member of both programs, I could unfortunately only be in either the honors section or the nursing section. Previously, students that were in both the nursing program and honors college were required to be in an honors LSEM class, but the year I took this course was the first year that students in both programs were required to be in a nursing LSEM class. Because of this, I did not get the same Longwood Seminar experience as most other honors students; instead, my class was focused on the nursing program. Regardless, this class was very helpful as a new student. I had an amazing mentor that I continue to look up to, and I learned so much about Longwood and what I will be doing throughout my time in the nursing program. Attached is an essay reflecting on New Lancer Days.
