Longwood as a whole puts a huge focus on service, and this emphasis is even more intensified in the Cormier Honors College. From the time I moved in as an honors freshman, I was emerged into service within my first three days. On the Honors Leadership Retreat every year, there are numerous service projects that everyone participates in. As a freshman, I participated in a service project with Clean Virginia Waterways. Another service project that takes place every semester with the Honors College is our service retreat to Hull Springs Farm, known as the Eddie Carey, Jr. Memorial Day of Service. For this project, we travel to Hull Springs Farm in Westmoreland County in the Northern Neck of Virginia for a weekend and participate in service activities throughout the farm and the community. I have also gotten to volunteer for other honors events, including the Honors Leadership Retreat and the Honors Preview Event. Throughout my time at Longwood, I have had the opportunity to participate in numerous community service activities, such as F.A.C.E.S., Relay for Life, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, the MS Walk, MS Awareness Day, the Out of the Darkness Walk, LLS Awareness Day, LLS Cornhole Tournament, and much more.
