VNA Legislative Summit, November 8th, 2018
As a member of the Student Nursing Association’s executive board, I had the opportunity to attend the VNA Legislative Summit in Richmond on November 8th with Professor Kennon and the rest of SNA’s executive board. At this event, I heard many different speakers talk about the legislative side of the nursing profession, which was new to me. I also got to network with people from different hospitals and graduate schools. I enjoyed learning about nursing legislation and how I can influence change as a future nurse.
VNSA 67th Annual State Convention, February 2nd, 2019
During my junior year, I had the opportunity to attend the VNSA 67th Annual State Convention at James Madison University on February 2nd, 2019. At this event, I got to attend different sessions related to the nursing profession, such as a session about emergency nursing, an interactive session called Stop the Bleed, a leadership meeting with VNSA’s Board of Directors and the executive board for Longwood’s SNA, and a session about nurse anesthetists. I also got to talk to people from different hospitals and graduate schools, and hear speeches from influential people in the nursing profession. Attending this event was an amazing opportunity for professional development and growth in the field of nursing, and I am glad I was able to go.
