Artifact: Mindless Eating Experiment (Google Slides)

PHED 101 focuses on teaching basic health and fitness, with some labs at the beginning of the semester to help students understand how the exercises worked. There were some biweekly monitoring reports that were submitted to Canvas, which were just reports from my FitBit and a short write-up of how that week was and why I think I got the results I did. At the end of the semester, we could choose what Mindless Eating experiment we would research and I chose to recreate Wasink’s “Two at a Time” experiment. I cover the purpose of the experiment in the artifact linked above, as well as my results. I learned more about eating habits and I could better understand my own future tendencies in buffet-style eating environments, such as at DHall. I could apply this to my future career if I were to design a buffet’s interior by using this knowledge to create an interior design that would maybe make customers more inclined to eat more food. I would have to learn more about the use of color and layout of a buffet, but this knowledge could be useful in that specific situation.
