Bodies and Citizens (CTZN 110)

Fall 2018

This class was my first honors class that did confirm that it was going to be different work. In this class, we annotated various readings that exposed us to learn more about boarding schools, Native Americans, birth control dilemmas, sexual orientations, and more. It was a speaking intensive class, therefore we had various controversial discussions about topics. Throughout the course, we were able to learn new things, as well as ask questions and speak our ideas during discussions. I had a hard time speaking up in class because I tend to be shy to speak infront of a class or present a presentation. However, it was not impossible. I was able to overcome my fear and get through the course.

For our final project, we had to create a syllabus and a 3 minute thesis giving information about a topic. I chose to do Mental Illness and Violence. This project taught me to expand my horizons and made me realize that I did not want to become a teacher. However, it was an interesting experience because I got to conduct research and learn more interesting information despite creating a syllabus with 7 units. My syllabus can be seen below.
