ENGL 351 (Philosophy and Literature)

Spring 2020

This class exposed me to philosophy and literature, which are two courses I had never taken before in high school or college. This class was the most challenging form me because I had no experience with both of those topics. The class consisted of writing reading responses and a couple of essays. It was a challenging course for me because it was hard to comprehend some of the readings provided. Moreover, writing a philosophy and literature paper was a challenge because both professors were looking for certain answers. On the bright side, I was glad I was exposed to different readings, such as books, poems, and short passages. I liked reading different literary works, because I do not usually read on my own time since I usually study. I learned that I did miss reading on my own time and that I need to find time throughout the day to do that. The reason for this is because I devote my time studying nursing and not taking the time to read books. Since this will be my last English course in college, I am going to commit to read more. Below are some links of books we read throughout the semester. My favorite one was called The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde because it showed how friendships can influence who you really are and cause to make decisions that can affect you in the end.
