World History I (HIST 125)

Fall 2019

In History 125, I learned about first civilizations, such as Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, China, and Islam. It was a refresher from information I had learned my freshman year of high school. History was always interesting to me back in high school. However, taking it in college was slightly different, since I had to actually retain and connect information to build up answers for short answer tests. Not being a history major made the course challenging when it was just a pillar to complete. However, my professor made it very easy for us to learn information by providing pictures on a PowerPoint, watching a video here and there, and being very enthusiastic about her lessons. Throughout the semester, we had to read The Adventures of Ibn Battuta, A Muslim Traveler and write an essay about his adaption to the wonders he encountered. In this book, I learned about different countries and their customs, which can be interpreted in my paper. It connected to class towards the end when we started learning about Islam and their beliefs. Although, I will not be taking a history class again since it has nothing to do with my major, I did enjoy remembering how much fun it was to learn about history. I do believe that Professor Yugoslavia made the course much more interesting to sit through and I would love to have her again if I were to take a history course again.
