This course offered a broad outlook on various mental illnesses that ranged from depression to schizophrenia. I learned that numerous things occur at once within the brain, both in the conscious and subconscious state of mind. It was really fascinating to learn how the brain communicates with other parts of the brain while including the influence of hormones on disorders.
Until this class, I had little knowledge about most of the mental illnesses discussed. However, I quickly realized the importance of educating myself on this topic. I know that this course has already benefitted myself, as a nursing student, and with my patients in the clinical setting. Overall, I am more aware of mental health illnesses in those around me and strive to maintain a healthy mindset and attitude in my personal life.
For my final project, I wrote a paper about the Effects of Multitasking on Task Integrity. The purpose of my research was to determine if multitasking negatively impacts the quality of a given task. I chose to research this topic because it was one we had discussed in class that I wanted to know more about. As someone who is constantly multitasking, it is interesting to be able to dig deeper into the hidden complexity of it all. To learn more, please read the paper below.
