This psychology course focused on previous and current health concerns. One of the more interesting topics touched on the Flint Water Crisis. We watched a documentary that was informing on the causes, solutions, and the long term effects on those who were unknowingly drinking the contaminated water.
COVID-19 was also widely discussed in the class since it was current, relatable, and new information was being released weekly. Dr. Ritzert was kind enough to post a page on canvas with links to reliable websites and articles related to the pandemic. It was comforting to be able to fact-check misinformation I may have seen on social media with those sources. We also often discussed how the new articles, regulations, or general information impacted us. The most exciting thing was that the new vaccines had become available throughout the semester and we discussed the importance of getting vaccinated. I was able to use this information in discussions with my friends and family.
I was fascinated to learn how one’s attitude and perspective behind healthy habits can influence their behaviors. The Behavior Change Project was a semester long assignment that was based on a personal behavior each student chose to reform. I chose to increase my daily exercise minutes in an effort to stay motivated to exercise. Below is the final paper including all of the related information and the single case experiment.
