Longwood Seminar Honors
This class is a seminar class for incoming freshman and I was required to take honors. This class recalled on a book we read over the summer, called “The Other Wes Moore.” This book was all about how one wrong decision or one missed opportunity can completely alter one’s life. The book focused on two men who had the same name and came from the same type of background, but ended up leading completely different lives. One Wes Moore grew up and went to jail for allegedly assisting in a burglary and a murder, while the other grew up to become an author as well as a Johns Hopkins graduate. This book shows how one wrong decision can change your life forever, also it shows how you have to take every opportunity you are awarded.
After reading this book, it has taught me that I want to take advantage of my opportunities and be able to fully experience all that college has to offer. I want to join as many clubs and organizations that I can handle and I want to take advantage of meeting multiple people on the Longwood campus. Hopefully, by experiencing all that college has to offer then I will be able to transfer these ideals into life after nursing school. I want the opportunity to live life to the fullest and love everything the world has to offer.
The paper below explains what I learned during my seminar class for adjusting to Longwood life. I learned that Longwood is committed to citizen leaders and I learned what that means during my first year experience.
