History 100: Foundation of Western Civilizations Honors
This class was very hard. I was very happy when this class was done because I had never read so much difficult material in any class in my entire academic career. I learned about different civilizations and how their societal ranks were. We complete numerous papers about these civilizations backing up different essay questions that my professor asked. In addition, I gave a couple of presentations to the class. These were very nerve wracking, ten minute presentations because I have never given a presentation that long by myself. After the presentation, the professor and my classmates were given the opportunity to ask me questions about my topic. I hated this part because history is not my best subject and I hardly understood the information, so I had a difficult time answering these questions asked.
I believe this class made me a better public speaker because I was able to give a 10 minute presentation. Plus, I am not as nervous as I used to be when speaking in front of crowds. Especially with having to present on subjects that I am not necessarily the most knowledgable in made me complete more research and practice in order to ensure I covered all points and was able to answer in-depth questions. This came in handy when I completed more presentations later on in my college career especially in my nursing classes.
This is a paper I wrote about why history is important. We always had very different essay questions that we had to write about. This topics always made you think and look at the assignment differently as opposed to straight on. I had to think outside of the box and read up on different ideas in order to write a paper that met the requirements of the assignment. Dr. Isaac truly challenged me to think deeper.
