Chemistry 101: Basic Chemistry
During this class, I learned different way of looking at things. The entire world is can be explained using chemistry. I learned that each item or thing around us is made up even smaller pieces and we need to see the different pieces in order to understand is fully. Also, we learned about calories and triglycerides, which is all about nutrition and health. This is important to understand in one’s personal life as well as when educating others as a nurse.
Chemistry is really important in this world and I really like how this class looked into topics that I would have never thought were chemistry based. This class taught me to look at the world as pieces and to look at the different angles or meaning of things in order to understand it fully. I need to dig deeper and examine something fully before I judge it or make a decision. I need to research further in order to determine the correct option. This idea is really important in nursing and real life because there are times when decisions need to be made and I need to use my knowledge and the resources around me to help me make the best decision for myself or for my patients.
This is an experiment that we completed during the class about the pH levels of different items. Some were more basic and others more acidic. This is important in nursing because we look at acids and bases when examining different items like stomach acid to ensure NG tube placement. We completed a lot of really interesting experiments during this class!
