One reason I am choosing to become a nurse is because I want to help people and one way I can achieve this goal is by service to others. I try to participate on campus and off campus as much as I can. Service is so important because everyone gains so much from it. The people who are being helped gain the support they need to further their lives and the people offering their help gain the best feeling of all. I have volunteered for numerous causes on campus and also within my hometown. I have walked in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s every year so far at Longwood and try to raise money for research of dementia. Another major cause on campus that I participate in is Relay for Life which is raising money and awareness to all cancers. I am a huge supporter of sports and being active, so I love to teach young girls how to play softball. I teach them the fundamentals of the game in both my hometown and the surrounding counties of Farmville.
I think the greatest reward in life is putting a smile on someone’s face.
These are photos of me and my teammates from the Club Softball team running a softball clinic for the young girls of the surrounding counties. We teach them the fundamental skills needed for playing softball. It is a great opportunity to teach young girls, but it is also a lot of fun to hang out with my teammates while coaching.
