The results from the self-assessments showed that I am in the middle between being a transformational leader and a transactional leader, but I am slightly more of a transactional leader. I would say this is accurate because I am learning to be more accustomed and comfortable with change and growth. I believe that growth comes from change and adaptation, so this type of leadership is most accurate to what I would utilize. In the second assessment, I scored high in being both a charismatic and transformational leader. I also think that these results are accurate because I cannot envision myself being completely one without the other. I do believe myself to be more of a charismatic and transformational leader because I try my best to actively seek out opportunities for change and growth in the organizations and communities that I am a part of, and I utilize the leadership positions that I am in in organizations across campus to help me find other opportunities for leadership. I also believe that charismatic leaders are most likely to be associated with reward power because they are both associated with motivating their followers to influence change. While I am more of a transformational and charismatic leader, I aspire to be a servant leader because I believe that the social work mission is relevant to that of servant leadership. Social workers’ mission is to serve others without personal gain, and that is what servant leadership does.
