Honors English 165: Writing and Rhetoric

Instructor: Dr. Haffner

This is my persuasive research paper for Dr. Haffner’s Honors English 165 for the 2019 spring semester. This was the first paper that we wrote for the class and it had to be on a topic that we were passionate about. I wrote about the wrongly convicted that are spending their lives in prison for a crime that they didn’t commit.

When I began this research paper, I knew that I wanted to investigate more on the topic of the wrongly convicted because I will be going into the Criminal Justice system after my education. I wanted to learn how and why so many people have and are wrongly convicted. Finding different pieces of research for my paper was interesting to me because there have been studies done on bystanders being misidentified, and there were many different personal stories of innocent people that were wrongly convicted. This persuasive research paper helped me because it opened my eyes to the problems in the Criminal Justice system, and as a future officer of the Criminal Justice system, it will help me get all the facts before accusing the wrong person.
