ECON 218 – Principles of Macroeconomics

Being a business major, it is required that we take both microeconomics and macroeconomics. These two classes did not sound very exciting at first, but they both changed my view on how the world functions in small as well as large ways.

Macroeconomics focuses more on the big picture. It focused on how the business cycle influences how we live our lives as well as involving inflation, interest rates, economic growth, and more. I had no idea how large of a role all of these factors play into our daily lives.

Some takeaways and skills I learned in this class are how small factors can change everything around us. As well as how important communication skills are for getting points across. My artifact is a podcast that we had to make relating the new Coronavirus to economics. By doing four different podcasts throughout the semester, I learned how important words are for getting your point across. We must be very careful with our word choices when explaining these factors that could change our lives in the blink of an eye.
