ECON 217 – Principles of Microeconomics

Microeconomics. This was the first honors course that I took at Longwood during my first semester in the Fall of 2019. Coming to Longwood was a big adjustment, and this class really helped me open up and be vulnerable around professors and classmates.

This class is based on the smaller picture of businesses including competitive advantage, scarce resources, supply and demand, and several other smaller factors that businesses use on a daily basis.

In this class, I learned that I am a very visual learner my professor, Dr. Melanie Marks, used powerpoints and would write on the slides to portray different points and graphs. I learned exceptionally well in this class because of all the visuals used as opposed to auditory lectures. Also, I learned how important note-taking is. Without writing down every piece of information, I would have not been able to keep up with the homework assignments and do so well on the exams.

My artifact for this class is some notes I had taken while reading real-life, current articles. For different sections of this class, she had us read these articles explaining different ways microeconomics is used all around the world.
