Return to Biology Major Courses

Organic Chemistry 2 (CHEM 212)

Organic Chemistry 2 was a class I took as an requirement for my biology major. I have chosen to reflect on a study guide I made for one of my exams in the course.

Organic chemistry 2 was a course that had surprisingly been one of my favorites. This is not to say it was easy, being that this course has also been one of my more time consuming course with the amount of studying. What surprised me with this class was the amount of enjoyment I found in figuring out the problems, which more or less were puzzles covered in carbon bonds. The more i learned from this course, the more I wanted to learn different ways I could manipulate these compounds into different structures. This class taught me to find enjoyment out of the difficulty of certain tasks. The study guide I made below is an example of all the pathways one could use to develop different bonds and organic structures. I found once I learned these pathways or rules, the problems in exams became almost like a game of make the right product. This gave me a new found respect for a challenge and the sweet joy of conquering it.

Below is a study guide I took a great deal of time and effort into for one of exams.
