I completed History 110 online over winter break my freshman year. An online course was challenging at first considering the short time frame and self-guided work. I think taking this class online helped improve my time management skills and increased my focus and comprehension while reading since most of the course was taught through the textbook. I have utilized these learned skills in just about every course I’ve taken since History 110. During this course, I learned about the historical events of the modern west, particularly the industrial revolution, the world wars, the Cold War, and recent acts of terrorism. We explored these events through social, economic, and political lenses, which helped me see history through new and different perspectives. In my final paper, shown below, we were required to answer various prompts concerning the different modern eras of history we explored in class and then explain their significance in establishing the current landscape of the western world.
