A Little Bit About Myself

Hello there!  My name is Ben Lambert, and I am currently a junior in the wonderful school that is Longwood University!  I was born in Richmond, Virginia, but have lived in Chesapeake, Virginia since I was two years old.  I was involved in numerous clubs, organizations, and service opportunities ever since I could remember.

I grew up playing soccer on several different recreational teams up until about seventh grade.  It was in middle school that I focused more on musical interests.  I was involved in all of my schools’ band programs up until I graduated.  I would focus on concert performance while in school, but I would participate in the marching band, which is where I dedicated more work and practice as it was more rigorous.  I also decided to give singing a try, and joined an all-male acapella group a way to try out a new interest.  In the spring I would devote my time to tennis and play for the varsity team.

I was also involved in a few service organizations starting around middle school.  I volunteered at my local library for a summer, which eventually led me to apply for the Greenwood Library job at school.  I was also the administrative vice president for the Venture Crew, a co-ed branch of the Scouts that took part in several volunteer events such as working with the homeless and Clean the Bay.  I was also a member of our National Honor Society chapter, which focused on mostly beautification and cleaning efforts around school.  I now spend most of my time as a member of the Global Leaders, an organization on campus devoted to helping international students studying the United States and working at the campus library.

I am currently studying Criminal Justice with minors in Homeland Security and Political Science.  I would grow up listening to my dad’s stories as a police officer, and his humility and service motivated me to follow something of the same path.  It was only recently that I shifted focus on studying terrorism and homeland security and the politics that go along with it, and am now leaning more towards a federal government job somewhere down the road.  So that’s me in a nutshell!
