Intermediate Integrated Language & Culture 2
Junior year, Fall 2021:
I never understood the reason why I had to take a foreign language in college. However, I did it anyways whether I wanted to or not. A lot of things in life you will not want to do but you will have to do anyways. I actually liked this class structure a lot more than any other foreign language class that I’ve taken before. We talked in french for the majority of the class. This helped me master the language so much more and really enjoy it. I actually felt connected and motivated to go into the class instead of doing endless busy work that is pointless and not productive whatsoever.
I was able to do all the homework quickly and study very efficiently using skills that I learned in my Microbiology class. I connected with my teacher a lot mostly because I was one of the few people confident enough to speak in class. I knew that even if I got it wrong that it was still a learning environment and I would be rewarded for trying anyways. I made another GroupMe for this class and added the peers that I could. When I made Quizlet for the quizzes or tests I would send them in the group chat. I would always find that my classmates used these very often and found them very helpful. Making the Quizlets really helped me because it gave me an alternative to just writing down the information again and again. I could type it and read it again to gain muscle memory learning the placement of words and sentence structure.
I am glad I took french because my graduation present it to going to Paris! Time to put all that hard work to use.
Click here for my artifact, which is a project that I did to show my knowledge of describing a place while welcoming someone. This was fun to write and dissect the individual parts of each sentence.
