Professional Bio:

Davice Madelyn Jones is a full-time undergraduate student at Longwood University ‘23 majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Davice chose this path because she has always had a strong interest in the Dental field. She is a Cormier Honors College and LIFE STEM scholar. Beginning her freshman year, she was able to participate in Longwood’s PRISM ‘20 (Perspectives on Research In Science & Mathematics) program. Here Davice became proficient in R and communicating with well-established biologists in the DEQ ( Virginia Department of Environmental Quality) and the DWR (Virginia Department of WIldlife Resources). She is involved on campus and within the community. She is currently the standing Treasurer of Alternative Breaks, a club that focuses on the importance of giving back to others in various forms of community service as well as being a well-rounded conservationist. Through this organization, she is able to lead trips nationwide of groups varying in size from four to twenty. She is also the Historian of WiSTEM (Women in STEM), who avidly support women in the fields of science. This club organizes events to involve the community and the campus to collaborate and educate those who are unaware of the opportunities available to women in STEM. Davice values individualism and organization to work efficiently as a team in all work environments. From this initial experience, she was then able to get first-hand experience in the dental field at a general dental office in Farmville, where she was a personal/dental assistant working alongside the doctor to learn and absorb the lifestyle and ethics needed to become a proficient clinical professional. From the beginning of her higher education, she has also enjoyed the experience of serving in the food industry to improve her overall customer service skills. In her free time, Davice enjoys reading environmental literature, creating art with various media, finding four-leaf clovers, and napping with her cats.
