Hi! My name is Grace Dalton and I am currently a senior in Longwood University’s Cormier Honors College. When I graduate I will have a degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Elementary Education as well as a minor in Psychology. I have always had a passion for working with children and I feel teaching is the perfect way to incorporate that into my everyday life. Throughout my time here at Longwood I have also discovered a passion for mental health. Although I am not going to pursue childhood counseling at this point in my life, I feel that as a teacher this is a role that I will play everyday.
As my time here as an undergrad student at Longwood comes to a close, I am forced to start considering the next direction I want to take my life in. As I worked through my education classes, I found that I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the classes regarding reading intervention. For this reason, I have decided that I am going to pursue a masters degree in education. I am currently applying to the Reading, Literacy, and Learning graduate program here at Longwood. I feel this will be an excellent opportunity for me to dive deeper into the world of reading interventions as well as gain new, refined skills that will aid me in the classroom.
