WGST 495

Special Topics: Reproductive Justice

I switched into this class one week before classes started because I had a class mix-up, and I am so glad I was able to get into this class. Many of these topics were topics briefly discussed in my Citizen class, so I was able to not only expand on topics I had learned about before, but learn about brand new topics pertaining to reproductive justice as well.

This was my first perspectives class, which was exciting, and this was this first time the class was ever taught, which was super exciting! We were always referred to by Dr. Dudley-Shotwell as her “guinea pigs,” which meant we were able to respond about what we wanted to see, what we liked, and what could be different for future sections of the class.

I wanted to present two artifacts for this class. The first is my first project/assignment from the class, which I worked on with a fellow classmate that I also worked closely with in my Citizen class as well, in which we dissected and summarized a podcast about reproductive justice in two minutes. My second artifact is a reflective blogpost assignment I submitted in the last week of the semester. I felt it best showed my reflection of the class, especially with it being so close with my interaction with the materials of the class. It talks of my final project I had worked on, as well as what I’ve truly taken from the class.

I thought it was the best way to showcase the reflection of the class, with the assignment being in the heat of the material and true reflection.
