Hello, my name is Emily, and I am an Elementary and Middle Education major, concentrating in Social Studies!
I have moved around quite a bit for my major, starting as a History major with a concentration in Social Sciences Secondary Education, then I went to Liberal Studies for Elementary Education, then I was able to find myself back in History with my current major.
I just finished my junior year, where I am in the Cormier Honors College, and I am also involved in Longwood Ambassadors, the Director in the all-women acapella group Pitch Perfect and holding two chair positions in my sorority, Sigma Sigma Sigma, or Tri Sigma. I am involved with Greeks for Change on campus as well, serving as the Vice President of Finance, and finishing my term as Junior Class Secretary and moving up to Senior Class Secretary in the fall.
I have had a practicum experience in a middle school math classroom at Amelia County Middle School in Amelia County, VA. I also have a current acceptance in the Teacher Preparation Program here at Longwood, which has allowed me to complete different modules and requirements that prepare me for entering a Virginia classroom to prep for licensure. I am working back home in Virginia Beach as a substitute, having experience working with children from grades K-8 in order to have more field experience to prepare myself for having my own classroom.
