Writing: Elementary Classroom – Dr. Jen McConnel
Writing has been a strong suit of mine, but never been my favorite subject.
It wasn’t until my senior year of high school with my Dual Enrollment teacher that I began to enjoy writing.
I would love to elaborate more on my writing journey here, but I have two artifacts I really wanted to include (I just couldn’t decide between the two) that I think have a deep reflection of what I pulled from the class that would be portfolio worthy, and without wanting to repeat myself too much, they are below.
This was a midterm letter we wrote to our professor, who was hands down one of my favorite professors I’ve had since I’ve been at Longwood, about our progress on writing and what the class has meant for us in that aspect. It was a lot of reflecting on our past and what we’re looking for in the class, along with what we’ve already found to have happened with our writing style and pedagogy. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vlL-9EoFAcZssUkJzSmjRVfyvyqVZhAiSLEo0H0H-Z4/edit?usp=sharing
This second artifact is a reflection on our writer’s notebooks we had completed throughout the semester, as well as a reflection on the concept of a writer’s notebook as a whole. We could focus on one or both, as well as the impact it had on the progress of our classwork and work ethic in writing. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1t-tI-H1mJjFdfNDZb1zY5d7NUAdI7wUU8e1fcA1UY9Y/edit?usp=sharing
