Relay for Life raises money for the American Cancer Society, and every year Longwood hosts a community event for Relay for Life. This is an all-night event where students and community members can walk or set up booths to sell things for fundraising. I am part of several organizations that set up booths for this event, and I work shifts at the booths as well as help with preparation and set up. This event is important to me, since my father passed away from pancreatic cancer when I was 8 years old, and several of my other family members have battled cancer as well. Many community members have also had their own experiences with cancer, and these events helps bring the community together to share their experiences and raise money for a great cause. I am so blessed to get to be a part of Relay for Life every year with my close friends and the Longwood community.
