In June 2019, I had the amazing opportunity to volunteer at the Remote Area Clinic in Emporia, VA. During this clinic I was able to help triage, assess, and care for patients from the surrounding areas who otherwise would not be able to afford healthcare. It was a truly eye opening experience, since I had no idea how many people were in need of healthcare but struggle with paying for it. I am so grateful I had this opportunity and am so thankful to the clinic and my professors who made it possible for us to volunteer.
