PHYS 222 Hon:University Physics I Lab

For the honor section in this course is doing additional procedure and calculations that goes beyond an ordinary physics lab. One of the physics labs we done called “Measuring a Spring Constant Lab” which requires combing my honor lab group with other honor lab group. We first combining each groups spring in parallel to each other attach one hanging mass and then press the hanging mass causing it to bounce repeatedly on the parallel springs as it continues to oscillate back and forward while timing it using the stopwatch for the number of times the hanging mass oscillates. The next is adjusting both springs and the hanging mass in series by connecting two springs and attach the hanging mass at the end of the spring. After experience in this lab, I founded that it was very difficult to determine the displacement of the hanging mass when putting the masses while the spring is in parallel and when it continues to oscillates. However, I was very motivated in performing the experiment by timing the hanging mass when its oscillates itself at a specific number of times. We also present our spring constant lab experiment by forming a poster presentation during our exam period.  This part is important for me because it gives me a general idea on how to present a talk about physics to audiences that are new to this topic with a clear and understanding of the topic.
