Community

Community is surrounding yourself with others who share the same interests, beliefs, or passions as you. I belong to several different communities on Longwood’s campus. Because of my major, I belong to the education community. I have had a number of peers and professors that I could go to for to talk about assignments, teaching experiences, and my future. Additionally, I joined Kappa Delta Pi which is an honors society for educators. This organization has allowed me to be surrounded around other students within my major that I could go to for help and advice. Outside of the education community, I am a part of Epsilon Eta which is an environmental science organization. I have always been passionate about the environment which is why I joined this organization. I loved being surrounded by fellow students who shared the same passion as me. I served as the social chair for this organization where I held social events and ran our social media account. Additionally, I am apart of SEAL which stands for student educators for active leadership. This organization serves to grow Longwood students into leaders. I was elected as the president of this organization and I loved the community of leaders that I was grow around.
