This link above is a presentation about the negative effects of malaria worldwide and the different combative methods. This presentation was a collaborative effort of three people, including myself.

The link above is a presentation that was presented at Longwood’s spring symposium. My group and I wanted to observe the effects of different stressors on wing symmetry in Drosophila melanogaster.

the link above was a class presentation in which we presented to the lake owners. We separated the tasks to different groups and presented our findings. The tasks were created based on the different aspects of the lake.

Reflection Section: I enjoyed working in group settings before college and I still enjoy it as a graduating senior. I believe group assignments prepare people, especially students, for the “real-world” by allowing them to practice communication, teamwork, and interrelationship skills. And the assignments I used as artifacts helped me effectively build and perfect these skills, as well as teach me how to effectively collaborate in a group within the science discipline. The first artifact was a group presentation about malaria. This assignment was not too hard, however, finding a time that worked around everyone’s schedule was one of the main issues. Another issue was ensuring everyone knew the information presented since we separated the workload. To resolve these two main issues, we made a google doc. This method ensured everyone knew the information and everyone contributed if they had to miss a meeting. This solution increased our comradery within the group and taught us effective collaboration skills to ensure the assignment was completed. The second artifact taught me the art of communication. So many things went wrong in the experiment due to a lack of communication. We should have communicated more with each other and the professor to better understand what was needed to be done and what went wrong. Due to this experiment, when I am partnered with a person or in a group setting I will ensure everyone knows what their roles and duties are. The third artifact was a class presentation that was divided into different topic sections- if someone liked a topic they picked it. This allowed students to willingly participate and form groups. This assignment taught me interpersonal skills. I was able to embrace my team member’s ideas and communicate freely amongst them. Each artifact taught new skills that will ensure proper teamwork skills which is vital for any profession.
