Honors 490: Directed Study
I took this class with Jessi Znosko in the Spring of 2022. This class was a substitution for my study abroad requirements, as I was not able to study abroad in person because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the travel restrictions. However, I still truly enjoyed this class and felt like I learned a lot regardless.
For this class, we worked with students from the Netherlands to solve global warming and other environmental issues. We were tasked with coming up with an idea and a plan to get our societies more involved with solving global warming and being more environmentally friendly.
My group decided to create an app, similar to Instagram, where people could clean up their environment and then make art out of the trash. They could then sell their artwork on the platform and a portion of the profits would be donated to environmental groups seeking to solve global warming.
I had a lot of fun working with the Dutch students and I feel like I was able to learn a lot about their culture and the way they view the world. They were all very nice and it overall was just a really fun project!
