Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to summarize all the findings relevant to the PICO(T) and draw conclusions/recommendations as to how to proceed in addressing the identified problem.
Knowledge: A literature review summarizes all of the best quality, current and relevant literature on a given topic. It should offer the necessary evidence to guide the practitioner in making a decision for how to proceed. It is important to note that before making a final decision the mentor’s expert opinion as well as data/information regarding client needs/wants should also be incorporated. The latter 2 elements will be synthesized into your final presentation.
Review the following resources to develop a summary of the literature:

Task: The student will complete their synthesis using the format from the Slippery Rock (2020) webpage. The student will upload their summary to their blog as a post. All of the articles from the literature review table must be cited at least once in the literature review. The literature review should be organized into an introduction, discussion and conclusion.
- The introduction should include the PICOT, explain the problem or reason for the PICOT, introduce/define any primary terms we will need to understand to prepare for the discussion and should introduce the primary trends and/or subtopics the discussion will expound upon.
- The discussion should be an in-depth explanation of the key findings and trends of the literature. Everything mentioned in the discussion must remain relevant to the PICOT.
- The conclusion should restate the PICOT (paraphrase, not exact wording as used before), and tie everything together. The student should provide concrete recommendations for addressing the problem supported by the literature. There should not be any new information in the conclusion.
- The paper should be of professional caliber using proper sentence and paragraph structure. It should flow making relevant points and connections.
- Proper citation and reference list according to APA style should be used.
- To submit, the student should upload their paper as a post to their blog under the title of “Literature Review”.
Peer Review: The student will review at least 2 other peer’s work against the assignment criteria and submit their review in the comments section by the identified deadline in the peer’s blog. Each student may have no more than 2 peer reviews to ensure that all students receive at least one peer review. Peer reviewers must provide at least 2 pieces of constructive feedback and 1 piece of positive feedback. It cannot be the same feedback given by others.
Criteria for Success: In addition to above listed criteria, the student’s post needs to be approved in writing via the comment section by the instructor and the mentor before proceeding to the next assignment.
